I had yet another conversation with a neuromonitoring company recently. The explosion of these companies is not tied to their medical necessity but rather financial gain and greed. The chance of a nerve injury in a shoulder, knee, or hip arthroscopy is 0.01% to 0.03% (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19620828) and yet there are salespeople that approach me nearly every week to monitor my cases for this 1 in 10,000 occurrence!
74 and my new favorite patient….just in today and I was hoping she had done well after hip and knee BMC injections. She one upped me and brought in the video below. Most start to notice a benefit by 6 weeks ….although we have had patients who reported feeling better even sooner.
Don Buford, MD, the Director of the Institute, will be holding 1 hour evening seminars on Tuesdays in November….the 7th, 14th, and 28th. Seminars will run from 6p – 7p.
At the Dallas PRP and Stem Cell Institute (dallasprpandstemcell.com) we are turning bad knees into good knees with an in office bone marrow derived stem cell injection....takes an hour...no surgery
A diagnostic shoulder arthroscopy with a needle scope done under local anesthesia. Sometimes to get the most accurate diagnostic information it is helpful to see inside the joint.
Don Buford, MD will be leading another platelet rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell seminar Wednesday October 18, 2017 at the office of The Dallas PRP and Stem Cell Institute from 6p -7p. Dr. Buford is an orthopedic surgeon and the Director of the Institute and does all of the patient counseling and procedures. Come have all your questions answered about when using your own blood and stem cells from bone marrow makes sense in orthopedics.
In a 5 minute procedure under local anesthesia, we can see into your knee or shoulder for diagnosis and to guide PRP and stem cell injections. The procedure is covered by insurance companies!
Our patient in this video didn’t get better with a steroid shot so we did a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection which is an anti-inflammatory and orthobiologic injection from her own blood done in the office in about 30 minutes. She has done fantastic in the month since the procedure as she relates in the video. Results always vary based on clinical factors. PRP injections are one of the two types of orthobiologic injections we do at the Dallas PRP and Stem Cell Clinic. We also do bone marrow derived stem cell injections for many different orthopedic indications.
Today the FDA issued a warning letter (http://bit.ly/fdausstemcell) to US Stem Cell and their Chief Scientific Officer, Kristin Comella, giving them 15 days to stop their current practice of using stromal vascular fraction (adipose tissue) for multiple medical conditions.
