How to know which Regenerative Medicine clinics to avoid
How to know which Regenerative Medicine clinics to avoid

3 Quick tips For Patients (And Doctors Who Wish To Help Educate Patients)
All Regenerative Medicine clinics are not the same.

#1 If you go to a clinic that exists only to do regenerative medicine then please understand that there is essentially no barrier to entry...any doctor with ANY degree can claim to be an expert in regenerative medicine ...... and even with the bar that low....some people that are not even medical doctors also claim to be which further deepens the deception of the patient.
Patient Tip: Ask if the person presenting themselves to you as a doctor is indeed a medical doctor. Ask what their medical degree is in.....get "receipts/proof"
You may find that they actually have a MBA or a PhD or a JD.....none of these degrees allow for the care of humans in medicine 😉

#2 A question patients must ask: Is the orthopedic history and physical exam, imaging evaluation, and clinical decision making the same between a untrained person--> say a Nutritionist(!!!) or nurse-->and an orthopedic surgeon or physiatrist(or some other orthopedic discipines)?
Patient Tip: Ask what orthopedic training the person has....what medical residency and fellowship did they do. Was it orthopedic? Did they run an orthopedic clinic with patients?

#3 How many hours are spent learning how to order and evaluate orthopedic imaging like radiographs, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasound in business school or nursing school or nutrition school or law school? Zero. So how can someone then assume responsibility for correctly evaluating and treating an orthopedic patient without those years of training? They can not and should not.
Patients, if you are being pitched a treatment plan expensive enough to require financing options and the person making the sales pitch has not gone over your imaging and explained the diagnosis and treatment options.....you are not in a place that meets minimum medical standard of care.
If you are being sold a treatment plan for your knee and have never had imaging (ie. xray, MRI, CT scan) of your knee, just leave and go to a legitimate orthopedic clinic and doctor.

#4 Patients, get at least two opinions from different clinics before spending money on a cash pay regenerative medicine procedure. We encourage that at Texas Orthobiologics....we don't try to pressure patients into a same day procedure with a low down payment. If you have felt pressured to purchase a months long "package" with "easy financing" and didn't have a physical exam or even imaging.....that clinic's opinion is probably worthless.
There are now many excellent clinicians and clinics in this field it is not too hard to find out who and where they are.
Most of us do not have celebrity spokespeople 😉
